Dhinawan Yarn

Dhinawan Yarn is an Aboriginal-Contemporary fusion ensemble based in Sydney. Dhinawanyarn is a proud Gomeroi, Aniawan and Yuin family of busy performers; Raphael and Michelle Haztiptetrou and Julie Gramatovski, in collaboration with British-Australian composer and improvising musician Keyna Wilkins. Together they mix contemporary and traditional indigenous dance and music styles into something fresh and unique - a dialogue across cultures. The sonic scapes created are a melting pot of indigenous and western sounds and textures, exploring spiritual awakening through structured improvisations. Stylistically broad, this ensemble will take you on a journey into the heart of Australia with dream-like sequences alongside landscape depictions and animal mimicry and echoes of tribal lores, drawing on a myriad of musical influences, to create a unique and authentic soundscape of Australia.
